Ibrahim Dai: Connecting the Chinese Market to the World | Casual Connect Video

June 9, 2014 — by Catherine Quinton

“If you asked me to use one word to describe the mobile gaming market in China, I would use the word ‘jungle’,” Ibrahim Dai said during his session at Casual Connect Asia 2014. “It’s full of challenge, but it’s full of excitement and full of treasure that is worth the trial.”

Ibrahim Dai, the chief evangelist for TalkingData, sees huge and increasing potential opportunities behind the connection between China and the rest of the world. China is the world’s largest developing market, but, he points out, “To ensure new business success, global audiences need demystification of this market with recognized data and insight as well as localized services.” At the same time, Chinese mobile vendors are seeking new business extensions in overseas markets. TalkingData has been making tremendous efforts to build the “Golden Bridge”, as Dai calls it, between the two.

Trust and Perseverance

TalkingData is the largest 3rd party data service provider for mobile in China. As Chief Evangelist, Dai is in charge of the development of TalkingData’s business into the global market. To this position, he brings his technical background and professional experience in solution delivery for key global accounts at technical giants such as BEA/Oracle. He tells us the most satisfying event of his career was winning his first key global account for TalkingData and receiving full recognition from the client.  He believes he was able to accomplish this because of the trust he had from both his boss and the team, which gave him the perseverance and courage to overcome all challenges.

The company is determined to extend their “Golden Bridge” by providing the most insightful market intelligence of the Chinese mobile market, as well as offering the best-in-class data products and solutions. In this way, they expect to accelerate business success across both China and the world.

Focus On Developing Markets

Dai notes that there is a saturation of the games market in developed countries such as the US. As a result, he believes the trend with the biggest impact on the games industry will come from new business extension in developing markets, of which China is easily the largest.

When not evangelizing for the company, Dai prefers to spend his time with his family, saying, “They are everything to me.”

He is also an avid soccer and golf fan and hopes to go to Augusta to see the Masters someday. His gameplay reflects these passions; currently he is playing EA’s FIFA and Tiger Woods 2013 on Xbox. And his largest free-to-play purchase was a golf training course video.

At Casual Connect Asia, Dai announced that TalkingData and its global partner, SuperData, are releasing a joint report on the comparisons between the US and the Chinese gaming markets.
