Childhood Studio was started in September of 2012. Their core members used to work for the same employer, but that development house ceased its operation back in July of 2012. Sharing the same creative vision, they decided to form their own studio to carry on their passion for games. Childhood Studio’s CEO Believe Liu shares the story of Sliding Angel.
With our previous console FPS game development experiences, the Childhood Studio team’s first project was The Investment, a gyro-enabled FPS game working on mobile hardware. This project also collaborated with a third-party hardware provider, allowing The Investment to be played with a Bluetooth gun peripheral device. Since then gyro-enabled casual games have become a central theme of our game projects, and Sliding Angel became our second commercial product.
The concept behind Sliding Angel came from our love for water theme parks in the summer, the exhilaration of rushing down water pipes is always a blast to enjoy, hence the core gameplay. By the time it came to decisions on the artistic direction, it was clear that sexy girls in bikini would be the best fit, and so Sliding Angel is our cool answer to the warm hot summer. Our next step in terms of characters is creating a delicate and fine ones.
In order to bring variety to the gameplay as well as satisfy our own personal preferences, the team created five young ladies characters, each with different appearance and attributes, and all of them have their respective fans and supporters. Which of these angels is your favorite?
We chose the gyro-based controls again, since it provides more accuracy in choosing the slide direction. Each stage in the game provides a new challenge.
Now the Childhood Studio team is planning to make a series of games based on their original characters, and the development of Boxing Angel is currently underway. There’s also a third game called Spinning Angel in the prototyping phase, which they’d like to announce sometime in the second half of 2015. Meanwhile, Sliding Angel can already be played on iOS and Android.
