Interactive App Explores the Making of Lumino City’s Beautiful Backdrops

December 3, 2015 — by Steve Kent

Check out our coverage of State of Play’s presentation at Casual Connect Europe 2015.

State of Play, the developers of one of Apple TV’s most popular and painstakingly-crafted games, is following up their recent success on Apple devices with an app documenting their creative labors. Keep reading below for more on the announcement and State of Play’s upcoming events.

The Making of Lumino City, available now for free in the App Store, is an interactive documentary following the design and construction of Lumino City’s unique environment. Over three years, the developers built a miniature city of cardboard, glue, string, lights, motors and more.

The app lets users examine the handcrafted scenes in detail and gives an interactive tour of the techniques and equipment used to capture the vision of Lumino City’s creators.
The model city itself will also be on display during an event sponsored by State of Play and Apple in association with BAFTA on Friday, Dec. 4, and Saturday, Dec. 5, in London’s Covent Garden Apple Store. You can meet the developers on Friday, or just see the city on Saturday.

The Making of Lumino City lets users themselves try their hand at moving the cameras used to make the game.
