July 10, 2016 — by David Radd

Creating games is fun but it’s also hard work, and selling games is definitely a serious business. The Business of Games track at Casual Connect USA will have experts who know everything about platforms, distribution and more that will teach attendees how to sell games right.

Take Your GameS Business to the Next Level

When it comes to the mobile game economy, getting a user to install your game is only half the battle. Ian Atkinson, VP of Games Publishing and Global Business Development at AdColony, will talk about how to engage users in a long term way with “Leveling Up Your App Economy”. The session will cover monetization, best practices, and necessary features from the most successful apps on the market.Google Play

Google helps developers using their ad platform as well. Sissie Hsiao, Director of Product Management and Mobile Advertising at Google, will detail how the company’s mobile ad platform gives developers the tools they need from before launch to the growth period. They’ll talk about tapping into the full potential of the Google ecosystem in the session titled “Find and Engage High Value Users From the Start; Google’s Mobile Ad Platform from Soft-launch through Growth”. The talk will also detail using Google’s machine learning to bring better precision to marketing and monetization and to build awareness and intent into marketing plans.

The Next Generation of Games Business

Part of the next generation of messaging apps will have more than just messaging services built in. One of the more frequently mentioned usages is ordering food within the chat app ecosystem. In the session “Messaging is the New Platform – (Game) Bots are the New Apps”, Softgames CEO Alexander Krug will talk about the potential for games using the same technology. With HTML5, it’s possible to deliver games within every app. The discussion will talk about the trend of bots, social sharing and UA for games.HTML 5

Whether on a messaging app or an third-party app store, video ads can be a huge boon. MoPub’s Group Product Manager Boris Logvinskiy and Senior Manager of Product Marketing Elain Szu along with Magmic’s Director of Marketing Jonathan Simon will talk about what publishers should know about rewarded video. As they continue with “Rewarded Video: Optimize Your Strategy”, they’ll talk about best practices and relate a success story for rewarded video. The talk should be vital for publishers who want to enhance the experience for their users and increase monetization.
