Western Europe’s Featured Games at Indie Prize Casual Connect USA 2017

July 4, 2017 — by Catherine Quinton

Casual Connect USA 2017 includes four games from Western Europe, one from Italy, one from the UK and two from Spain.

Game Title: Ray Bibbia
Developer: Morbidware
Platform: Desktop Win
Website: https://www.facebook.com/RayBibbia
Country: Italy

Morbidware’s game Ray Bibbia has just won the New Game Award at Codemotion Amsterdam. In this hard-core game the player has the role of Ray Bibbia, a private exorcist searching for his own answers. The setting is an evil city ruled by a dystopian church where Ray crosses paths with legions of devilish fiends.

Game Title: Daedalus
Developer: Vertical Robot
Platform: VR mobile
Website: http://verticalrobot.com
Country: Spain

Daedalus combines the genres of platformer and exploration, set in a surreal world where the player explores dream-like environments. The difficulty and architecture become increasingly complex as players progress through the levels. They can boost, glide, ride wind shafts, use trampolines and activate mechanisms, all with the goal of seeing Daedalus escape from his prison.

Daedalus has received many 5 Star reviews, placing it in third place in the Gear VR store.

Game Title: Almost a Hero
Developer: Bee Square
Platform: Android
Website: http://www.beesquare.net
Country: Spain

Almost a Hero celebrates the ordinary, flawed characters in this RPG clicker game. Ten of these characters set off on a quest to become heroes, or at least slightly less flawed. So the player must train them in battle skills, magical powers, and even what a sword is.

Almost a Hero has been featured by Apple in many countries. It has now reached 700k downloads in a month and has an average rating of 4.5 out of 5.

Game Title: Mona Lisa
Developer: Italic Pig
Platform: iOS
Website: http://www.italicpig.com
Country: UK

In this game Mona Lisa is not only Leonardo Da Vinci’s greatest greatest creation, she is also the greatest art thief of the Renaissance. She breaks into other artists’ studios using Da Vinci’s gadgets and creates slapdash forgeries in two minutes or less.

Although the game is still in development, it received Winner Best Casual Game at the Game Connection Paris Development Award 2016 (video /concept stage). It was also nominated for Best Indie Game, Best Story, Best Quality of Art and Most Creative/Original Concept. It was nominated for Best Studio/Rising Star at NI Game Dev Awards and was the Winner – Very Big Indie Pitch at Pocket Gamer Connects London 2017.
