Gevorg Sargsyan: The Mobile Free To Play Marathon | Casual Connect

“In such projects, it is important to understand what clients want to achieve,” said Gevorg Sargsyan during the Battle of the Work for Hire Studios! panel at Casual Connect USA. “It influences the game concept a lot.”

Gevorg Sargsyan is Co-Founder and CEO of Plexonic. He tells us the founder of a startup must do many things. His background is web design, and he had a successful career as a developer. This experience is a definite help because it allows him to speak the same language as his team. It is an important advantage during the product design process to be able to help the designers evaluate features from technical and design perspectives.

Little Time for Play

Gevorg finds that running a startup allows him very little free time for hobbies or an active social life. When he does manage some time away from the company, he enjoys hiking and playing tennis. He also enjoys music and finds progressive rock and trip hop especially compelling. He says, “It just happens that this is the music that speaks best to my personality.”

I look at what I do as running a marathon, but, unlike a marathon, the race never ends. And you don’t run it to get to the finish line; you run it because that’s who you are.

Future Defined by Cross-platform Mobile Games

There are two factors Gevorg sees most affecting the direction of Plexonic in the next several years. He believes the growth and domination of mobile is still being underestimated and that various platforms will arise and be established as major niche gaming spots. Plexonic plans to take action in response to these factors by building infrastructure along with games. This will allow them to deploy their games on any platform at any moment. However, in order to do this successfully, they must be sure the foundation for app building is laid out correctly.

Exciting Times

Gevorg emphasizes that the way people play games changed when the mobile devices era began. He claims, “Mobile devices will continue to evolve and will bring many new features that will, in their turn, affect the way people play games. We live in quite exciting times for gaming.”

The Race Never Ends

Although Gevorg cannot point to any particular time that is the proudest moment of his career, he says, “Panda Jam and Cassandra’s 11 are definitely games to be proud of!” But he reminds us, “There have been many great achievements and failures along the way. I look at what I do as running a marathon, but, unlike a marathon, the race never ends. And you don’t run it to get to the finish line; you run it because that’s who you are”.

Know Why

When you are running a startup, quite often, according to Gevorg, you will be going through multiple troubles. He believes, “The most important thing is to understand clearly why you are doing this, and why you have to stay in it when everything is crumbling. The toughest challenge for me was realizing this. And when I did, instead of pursuing the path of success, I pursued the path of becoming the best of myself.”

At Casual Connect USA, Gevorg announced the launch of Cassandra’s 11 on the AppStore. The launch is a very important moment for the Plexonics team since this is their first self-published title.
