Gabriel Cianchetto, President Market Development North America, Greentube treated the audience at Casual Connect Europe with a discussion about B2B solutions in the social casino space. Why has B2B not taken off in social casino like expected – and how can it? A perk of social casino, “we can go in there yesterday. We don’t have all those regulatory issues, you can move with a great B2B white label solution right away.” Join Gabriel Cianchetto, Derrick Morton and Adi Hanin for more insights about B2B.

Gabriel Cianchetto, President of Market Development, Greentube North America, is responsible for developing and executing the company’s online strategy, including business development, marketing, sales and public relations. Greentube is the interactive arm of global gaming entity, Novomatic. Gabriel is an entrepreneur and early pioneer in B2B cloud computing with over fifteen years of experience in Gabriel’s Technology Solutions, as well as working with Novomatic and innovative startups such as Silicon Gaming in the early 90s. These experiences laid the groundwork for creating the strategy to develop and market Greentube’s private label social casino solution, Greentube Pro. And today, the best part of working as president of market development is “the freedom to create and execute a strategy based on a shared vision.”

Disruption and Change

The inspiration for Gabriel’s career was, quite simply, technology. After being involved with internet related technologies since the 90s, Gabriel remains excited by the rapid rate of change but warns others interested in a similar career “Be prepared to deal with disruption and change on a constant basis. Always be looking for change where you least expect it to keep yourself sharp.”

An additional exciting aspect to this career is being able to be your own boss. As Gabriel points out, “You make the decisions that control your life – not someone else.”

Be at the Forefront

The constantly changing technology is a force that will continue to disrupt the gaming industry. Gabriel believes the key to meeting this challenge is to embrace it and be at the forefront of change. Casino operators will now need to hire the people who are able to evolve both social casino and real money gaming into their business strategies in a very sophisticated way. This is where Greentube Pro comes in.

But the biggest challenge Gabriel currently faces is educating the gaming industry on how to integrate online social casino gaming into their overall business strategy. And understanding social casino as a marketing tool is the most important recent development for this audience.

How to set up their tools is a huge question for Greentube since there are so many component parts in featuring a rich social casino platform. There are tools for every department from servers and developers to marketers, sales and more. It is a seemingly endless process for them.

While considering the challenges facing them, Gabriel reveals that his biggest fear would be if Amazon, Google and Microsoft began competing directly in this space.

New Possibilities

There are new possibilities on the horizon for platforms in social casino. Technologies such as Oculus and Microsoft’s Hololens could completely change the way players interact with games.

However, Gabriel does not see opportunities in skill-based casino gaming, although many companies are trying to incorporate this and casinos believe it is the way to attract millennials.

The reality of regulated real money gaming in the US has also been very disappointing so far, in Gabriel’s opinion. But 2016 could be the make or break year in this market; Pennsylvania will be the next state to make the decision whether to regulate online gaming. If the initiative fails there is nothing substantial expected in the real money gaming space.

Emerging Markets

There are certainly still emerging markets in the social casino space. Gabriel emphasizes the market for B2B social casino gaming solutions that are truly customizable platforms. This is a completely new market in the US as well as other areas.

For people interested in following this segment of the games industry, Gabriel suggests following traditional trade publications and blogs, such as Casino Journal and Calvin Ayre; they do a good job of covering the industry.

Gabriel’s hobbies include traveling worldwide, researching Medieval history, catching up on reading and fitting in some sort of exercise.
