Game Audio Getting In-Depth Analysis at Casual Connect USA 2018

December 18, 2017 — by Gamesauce Staff

As modern games become more immersive, quality sound in all dimensions and forms is becoming paramount. During Casual Connect USA 2018’s audio track, composers, sound designers, audio engineers, and more will teach attendees how to make their game audio the best it can be.

VR & AR

In order to provide a compelling experience, immersiveness is particularly important on VR and AR platforms. Somatone Interactive Creative Director Dale Crowley will discuss the techniques developed to create immersive and hyper realistic audio experiences in mobile VR game Hidden Expedition: Amazon. Disney Games & Interactive Experiences Audio Director Nicholas Gallant will provide a very different case study when he dives into a post-mortem look at the challenges of building mobile AR experience Star Wars: Jedi Challenges.

3D AUDIO & VOICEOVERS

Of course, it’s not just AR and VR that benefit from realistic audio. Games across many platforms can benefit from things like 3D audio and voice work. In a panel, experts from Hexany Audio, Facebook, G’Audio Lab, and Strat Americas will discuss product models and the growth of spatial and 3D audio. In a solo presentation, Eproductions Casting & Voiceover Director Eric Weiss will provide attendees with tangible techniques that will help them when producing voiceover content.

UNIQUE SOUND & USER ENGAGEMENT

In separate solo-presentations, Li & Ortega Composer David Ortega and Erik Desiderio Music Sound Designer Erik Desiderio will take a broader look at audio in games. David will discuss the neuropsychology of engagement and how audio can lead to increased profits and user retention. Erik will provide an in-depth analysis of how to make a truly unique game soundtrack using unconventional instruments, clever voiceover recording, and more.

HEAR & SEE

In addition to hearing educational insights from experts on game audio and many other topics in other tracks, attendees will also have plenty of things to see, from networking parties and new connections to exhibitor booths and the best in independent game design. Those interested in learning more or purchasing their pass can do so at Casual Connect USA 2018’s official website.
