October 17, 2017 — by Catherine Quinton

Indie Prize and Casual Connect are going to be in Kyiv for the first time in 4 years! It is going to be a great event. This article will highlight the independent developers from India, Iran and Malaysia that are coming to compete at the event.

The Indie Prize participant from India is a game that brings a new twist to musical games on mobile platforms to encourage experimentation with creating music.

Game Title: Melody Streaks
Developer: Beeble Games
Platform: iOS
Website: www.melodystreaks.com

Peggy Mallet, the character in the game Melody Streaks, creates music with every move she makes. Each of her turns plays a musical note. The player can tap in harmony with her turns on the track and experience the joy of making musical melodies as Peggy somersaults through the tracks.

Melody Streaks combines one tap game mechanic with musical sheets, allowing anyone to become a musician.

Iran’s participant in Indie Prize is an exciting true story that has already attracted considerable recognition as a mobile runner game.

Game Title: Run Dehghan Run
Developer: TeeToTum entertainment
Platform: Android
Website: http://www.teetotumgames.com/

Run Dehghan Run is a runner game based on a true story. The player, as the character Rizali, is risking his life as he attempts to stop a train during the night to keep it from hitting rocks on the railway. Along the way he must ride a donkey, avoid obstacles and collect torches so the torch in Rizali’s hand stays lighted and the train remains safe.

At the 6th Tehran Game Festival in 2017, Run Dehghan Run received an Honor Award for the best 2D graphics, as well as nominations for best music and best graphics. At the Tehran Game Convention in 2017 it received Best Mobile Game and runner up for Most Innovative Mobile Game.

The participant from Malaysia in Indie Prize at Casual Connect Kyiv 2017 is a game that expands the use of interface with a smartphone. It uses branching dialogues, recurring puzzles and different apps to look through.

Game Title: Simulacra
Developer: Kaigan Games
Platform: iOS
Website: www.kaigangames.com

Simulacra takes you on the experience of searching for someone using only what you can find on their cell phone. You discover a phone, but the owner has disappeared. You try to discover what has happened by checking her messages and emails, talking to her friends, looking through her gallery and whatever else you can find. But nothing is what it appears. Be ready for the world of digital horror.
